Stagecoach & Sanders Updates

A regular contributor has been in touch with the following information. "At one time, in Eastern Counties days many of their vehicles were outstationed across East Anglia and Norfolk was no exception.  Norfolk Green continued this practice, but following the acquisition by Stagecoach most have subsequently closed.  Following the closure of the outstation at Fakenham as from Monday 18th January 2016, due to the imposition of a 3m height restriction barrier at the Highfield Road Car Park, the six vehicles based there were transferred to the main Stagecoach in Norfolk depot at King’s Lynn.  It would have been easy to assume that this would be the end of Fakenham.  However, strong rumours persisted that an alternative location would be found, although not necessarily in the town itself.  

These rumours became fact as from Monday 29th February 2016 when a new outstation opened at the ABN Animal Feedstuffs premises situated at Bunkers Hill Mill on the B1105 at Egmere, which is roughly half way between Fakenham and Wells-next-the-Sea.  The initial allocation of six vehicles on Monday 29th February was Solos 47883/47897/47904, Tempo 25130 and Enviro 300s 27644/27645."

In other news, so far unreported on Norwich Buses Blog is the arrival of three new vehicles in the Sanders fleet. Optare Solo 203 MX09AOU is already in service whilst a further two Wright Pulsar's are expected soon. Thanks to Flickr's return2layerroad for the photo of 203.

  1. The B1105 is known to locals as the 'Dry Road' as for its considerable length, it has no public houses.
    Also the road is very rough, caused by a constant supply of trucks going and coming from the ABN premises.
    So, nowhere for crews to have a pint together after duties - oh what a shame.
